Tampere University in Finland just hosted its annual gender studies conference online last week.

I presented a working book chapter for the Migration Institute of Finland, “Vulnerabilities and Strategic Responses to LGBTQIA+ Identity Among Pakistani Refugees and Their Families.” This co-authored chapter explores the case study of a transgender youth from the Punjab region seeking refugee status in Greece. It is an extension of my previous book chapter on the intersectional identities and marginalizations of transgender Pakistanis, or khwaja siras; this newer project focuses on the interaction between the transgender asylum-seeker and their family and community across time and borders.

The recording of my 15-minute Zoom talk can be found here.
